Peace

We are driven by self-interest, it’s necessary to survive. But we need wise self-interest that is generous and co-operative, taking others’ interests into account. Co-operation comes from friendship, friendship comes from trust, and trust comes from kind-heartedness. Once you have a genuine sense of concern for others, there’s no room for cheating, bullying or exploitation.

The Biggest Mistake a Leader Can Make

Video

Dalai on Patience

“The practice of patience protects us from losing our composure. In doing that it enables us to exercise discernment, even in the heat of difficult situations. It gives us inner space. And within that space we gain a degree of self-control, which allows us to respond to situations in an appropriate and compassionate manner rather than being driven by our anger and irritation.”

– Dalai Lama

RIP MCA

… and on a more practical-thinking scale, Ms. Betty, “Right!” :

“A woman is like a tea bag.  She only knows her strength when put in hot water.”

Fri-Dalai

“Disturbing emotions not only disturb our own state of mind, they also disturb the minds of others. Self-centredness gives rise to fear and insecurity, which in turn creates distrust. This is why having an altruistic attitude brings a great sense of happiness and peace of mind.”

-Dalai Lama

Let’s do our best to keep things peaceful, and our words impeccable.

Happy & safe Easter weekend everyone!

Boo! duh.

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think.  When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”

The picture of Buddha was taken at a friend’s house, while the charm is the newest addition to a bracelet I have : )

Always Follow the Truth

“For though we love both the truth and our friends, piety requires us to honor the truth first.”
~Aristotle

Generosity

Generosity is the most natural outward expression of an inner attitude of compassion and loving-kindness. When one desires to alleviate the suffering of others and to promote their well-being, then generosity – in action, word, and thought – is this desire put into practice. It is important to recognize the “generosity” here refers not just to giving in a material sense, but to generosity of the heart.
