I found this shared by a friend, and has always been on my “list of things to try.”
As summer classes are underway already keeping me quite busy, I’m sure this will be quite helpful in the coming weeks while I attempt to balance everything else going on around : )
I mainly attempt to refrain from cluttering this space with political jargon and issues.. but this slid in. Jon Stewart (battling a cold) delivered a rather interesting perspective on the recent gun control issue here in the United States, “Scapegoat Hunter.” I am linking to the Business Insider, as the Comedy Central site does not have the entire clip for some reason.
I just read an article by Deepak Chopra about inspiring your brain. It’s nothing we aren’t already aware of, so may it serve as a reminder to keep our minds out of the gutter and to offer it much-needed inspiration and “health:”
“Take care of stress. Avoid dulling routine. Do something creative every day. Read poetry, spiritual material or anything else that makes you feel uplifted. Take time to be in nature. Bond with another person who is heartwarming. Pay attention to being happy. Make sure you take time every day by yourself to relax, meditate and self-reflect. Deal with negative emotions like anger and anxiety. Focus on activity that makes you feel fulfilled. Give of yourself. Follow a personal vision. Attach yourself to a cause that is bigger than you are. Take the risk to love and be loved.”
As my reporter friend Chandler shared on Facebook, this is one story that is filed under “NEWS THAT SOUNDS FAKE : The City of Austin makes a “Tokin'” gesture on 4/20 by unveiling a statue of Willie Nelson.”
(Say Willie, that wouldn’t happen to be an active volcano behind you sir, would it?)
