This song reminds me of so many things…..(in this order):
-Prepping for Love Parade in Berlin; both years I went: with my mom’s friend and with my best friend stateside
-Walking down the hallway of the Social in downtown Orlando
-Arriving to visit my friend in NY
-Dancing down the safe, quiet allies of Munich
-Barhopping through the streets of rainy SF
-Driving through the well-lit tunnels of Munich & Hungary – each leading to their own amazing & unique destinations.
-Dancing through dark Barcelona alleyways, finding a Picasso museum to wander thru –Playing hookie in the Ibiza airport on the baggage cart w/ my best friend, almost missing our flight back to Germany… we got evil eyes for that one when we boarded the plane lol!
Love the adventures this video reminds me of, and also of their value; they are priceless… and looking forward to many many more : )
Can you find the vinyl crotchless undies in this picture? I certainly couldn’t, until my man pointed it out to me (and warning: once you see it, it cannot be “un”- seen). What originally began as a compliment for him turned into awesome offbeat humor. No wonder he has that smile on his face… this certainly explains quite a bit about the “Prince Charmings” of days of yore. Enjoy!
I mainly attempt to refrain from cluttering this space with political jargon and issues.. but this slid in. Jon Stewart (battling a cold) delivered a rather interesting perspective on the recent gun control issue here in the United States, “Scapegoat Hunter.” I am linking to the Business Insider, as the Comedy Central site does not have the entire clip for some reason.
Appealing to the Dreamer that lives within us, this show has every fantasy and fable element and character incorporated into it (one of the qualities I found intriguing – to see how they could possibly interlace all of those stories, set in different times and places), from Snow White to Frankenstein to Alice in Wonderland.
This screenshot came from the moment the evil stepmother from Snow White and The Mad Hatter were stepping in to Wonderland to retrieve something (yes, together):
“Everyone wants a magical solution for their problems, and everyone refuses to believe in magic.”
– Jefferson, aka The Mad Hatter
If you are into witty comedy, check out this show – it’s bound to have something for everyone. I’ve recently seen a couple of episodes and they’ve certainly kept me laughing!
I just read an article by Deepak Chopra about inspiring your brain. It’s nothing we aren’t already aware of, so may it serve as a reminder to keep our minds out of the gutter and to offer it much-needed inspiration and “health:”
“Take care of stress. Avoid dulling routine. Do something creative every day. Read poetry, spiritual material or anything else that makes you feel uplifted. Take time to be in nature. Bond with another person who is heartwarming. Pay attention to being happy. Make sure you take time every day by yourself to relax, meditate and self-reflect. Deal with negative emotions like anger and anxiety. Focus on activity that makes you feel fulfilled. Give of yourself. Follow a personal vision. Attach yourself to a cause that is bigger than you are. Take the risk to love and be loved.”
Recently (and finally), I watched the award-winning documentary March of the Penguins.
It blew my mind.
Since I was young and in grade school, I have had this great appreciation for these mini tux’d up waddlers.. It may have started in 3rd grade when we read this book Mr. Popper’s Penguins and afterwards had a short assignment to write a letter to Mr. Popper(for one reason or another). To our surprise, we received responses! Mine included kind words and most exciting, a promise of a pet penguin! Oh, I was super excited as you can imagine –a penguin! Of course, had I not been a believer as I was at that impressionable age, I would have realized that the letters of response were most likely written by students in a higher grade than ours, also as an assignment. Well, I waited eagerly, for a penguin that would never come. As I “grew up” however, I realized the reality behind it all (after all, a pet penguin, in FL?… lol), but my fascination for these creatures did not dwindle.
After watching this documentary, my fascination is once again renewed. Not only is it remarkable that these animals can withstand the outrageously frigid temperatures of the Antarctic, but their entire existence goes toward finding true love (this movie covers only 1 year in their life). The majority of their lives involve traveling hundreds of miles (20 days straight!) through an environment where no other sustainable life exists, finding a mate, and taking care of one another together, separately. Finding one another through a sea of thousands of seemingly identical faces, they use sound to locate their spouse (and later their chick). That’s just the beginning though, and I could carry on but won’t. What I admire most? Their tenacity, dedication, and devotion to their other half through this entire process -it is something truly spectacular: the love of a penguin : )
